OpenType features in desktop apps

Finding out which features are supported by a font

  1. Download the font’s PDF specimen that is either available in the ”My orders” section of your client account (you must be logged in to access this), or on the font family page on our website.

  2. Open the PDF file. Under the "OpenType features" section (the second-t-last page of the PDF), you will see the list of features.

Activating OpenType features in desktop apps

Apple applications (TextEdit, Pages, Keynote, etc.)

  1. Choose Format > Font > Show Fonts (or press ⌘-T).
  2. Click the “gear” menu and choose Typography.
  3. In the resulting panel, click the triangle next to the desired section and turn on any of the alternates in the list to change the highlighted text.
  4. If the font also includes stylistic sets (not all of them do) you’ll see a section named Alternative Stylistic Sets. Same goes for contextual alternates.

Microsoft Word (Windows)

  1. Select the text and choose Format > Font
  2. In the dialog box that appears go to the Advanced tab and choose the desired features.

Sketch

  1. Select the text and choose View > Show Fonts
  2. Click the “gear” menu and choose Typography.

Adobe Photoshop

  1. Choose Window > Character
  2. In the panel that opens, There are some handy shortcuts in the main panel, or you can access a list via the top right menu icon.

Adobe Illustrator

  1. Open the Window > Type > OpenType panel menu
  2. In the panel that opens, There are some handy shortcuts in the main panel, or you can access a list via the top right menu icon.

Adobe InDesign

  1. Open the Window > Type > Character panel.
  2. Click the menu button in the top right corner of the window and go to OpenType.
