What is the LAB?
It is a R&D department
The LAB features typefaces with a prominent design statement. Gestures there are usually too strong to be fully fleshed-out as type families. We research and develop those statement on a prospective basis, surveying what constitutes a predictive body of work.
It is a playground
Because we’re usually busy with many designs at once, the LAB allows us to let some steam off, from time to time.
It is the future of fonts
Some of the typefaces there are the “Easter eggs” of our type design practice. They preview the future of the library, whether it be artistical or technological. Some single-style typefaces announce larger families. Better watch this space!
